About Sunny Wieler

Originally from the lush countryside of west Cork,

Sunny Wieler developed a passion for art and the

outdoors from a young age.

After obtaining his degree in Fine Art & Sculpture in

the Crawford College of Art & Design in Cork in 2002,

Sunny followed his love for the outdoors as a landscape

gardener where he developed his love for plants and

also discovered his passion for stone.

Over the next few years Sunny worked for a number

of landscaping companies including spending a year working for a prominent landscaping company in New Zealand. In 2005 Sunny set up his own company ‘Stone Art’, offering clients unique artistic stonework as well as fully landscaped gardens. In 2011 Sunny obtained a diploma in landscape design through Limperts Academy in Dublin.

Over the years Sunny has had the opportunity to create unique and artistic installations that merge art and landscape together through the medium of stone.

In recent years he has begun to focus more on art and sculpture, taking on both private and public commissions. In 2011 Sunny got involved in working with the non-profit organisation The Dry Stone Wall Association of Ireland, becoming Chairman of the association in 2012 untill 2017.

Much of Sunny’s work is influenced by his love for Irish landscape and folklore as well as his passion for stonework and its importance in the Irish landscape. He aspires to create inspiring and unique spaces and artworks that reflect his passions and that get people excited about Ireland’s most ancient craft ‘Stone’

Sunny now works from his studio near Blarney in Co. Cork, but also works on projects right across the country as well as abroad.

In 2013 a number of Sunny’s artistic stoneworks have featured in renowned designer, Tim Austin’s gold winning show garden at Bloom, with the centrepiece of the garden being one of Sunny’s natural stone mosaics.

Sunny’s work has been featured in a number of publications including a book on stone landscape design entitled “Stone Features”, published by  Tianjin Ifeng Space Media Co., Ltd, distributed in both English and Chinese.

In early 2020 Stone Art  was awarded: Best Bespoke High-End Stonework Specialist - Munster. At the Irish Enterprise Awards 2020. Over the years, Sunny has always been striving to produce works of the highest standards possible, while also displaying uniqueness and creativity. So to win the category of Best Bespoke High-End Stonework Specialist - Munster 2020 has been a great acknowledgment of what he has been striving to achieve with Stone Art.
