For this project Stone Art was commissioned by an artist to create two artistic stone seating areas to be incorporated into the existing landscape of the garden. The brief was to construct a large entertaining area on the west side of the house, with a smaller seating area on the east side to take in the views of the stream bordering the property.
Taking inspiration from the ancient stone circles that are a common sight in this part of the country, the entertaining area consists of large rocks (some weighing over 2 tons) in a circular formation. Stone walls link up the large rocks, creating a sheltered spot in the garden. Stone seats protrude from the walls, creating a very social seating arrangement with ample space in the centre for a portable fire-pit or dining table depending on the occasion. A stone spiral mosaic creates a centrepiece to the area.

The second seating area was to be a quiet spot by the water, where the artist could sit and become inspired by the surrounding nature. To maximize the effect of the water from the stream, large slabs of cantilevered stones hang out over the water creating the floor of the seating area. Two large Stone seats face each other. The large backrests not only look impressive, but they also act as wind breakers, making a very comfortable environment to sit in and become inspired
